Ruby Way sign

The Ruby Way will be an important route linking the Tarka Trail to the Cornish Coast at Bude. It also provides access into Ruby Country increasing the opportunities to explore and linger in this wonderful area. The Ruby Way offers opportunities for cycling, walking and can be used to create a variety of informal circular routes.

The Ruby Way is currently incomplete and a working in progress, however some sections are open. Ride the Ruby Country is working to create more route information, which will be available to download once complete.

Cookworthy Forest

Cookworthy Forest is also an interesting woodland to visit with well surfaced forest tracks making easy cycling and walking, ideal for a family day out.

There are a number of organisations in Devon promoting and protecting public access.

Devon Ramblers is the area group of the Ramblers Association and has over 3300 members.

West Devon CountrysideDevon Countryside Access Forum

The Devon Countryside Access Forum is a statutory body set up by the County Council under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. The role of the Forum is to improve public access to land for the purposes of open-air recreation and enjoyment.

Devon Green Lanes Group’s remit is to preserve and record the Green Lanes and Public Rights of Way in the county. It is open to all user groups and interested people and has representatives form different user groups including, Ramblers Association, British Horse Society, Green Lanes Association and Trail Riders Fellowship.
